Avoiding Impotence

It’s one of the less palatable facts of life, one that most men hate to admit, especially as they get older and the idea of being virile takes on more meaning. As we get older our bodies begin to change and we don’t like some of the changes.

Yes, the grey hair gives a certain dignity (not all men dislike that) but the real changes that we struggle with are the ones that people don’t really see; only those who know us more intimately know of those changes. Impotence is when a man loses the ability to please his partner in that most intimate of places, the bedroom.

For centuries it was accepted as a fact that it would likely come at some point in a man’s life. But that’s all changed. With modern medicine it doesn’t need to be the case. Modern treatments can go a long way to prevent the problem. The development of Viagra and the fact that you can now buy genuine Viagra online means that life has become a lot easier for the man in the street, no more waiting in embarrassment at the doctors or the pharmacy while they fill the prescription.

Of course there are some risks with it, as there are with all medicines. Viagra works on the blood vessels and anyone with a heart condition should talk to their doctor first. A doctor can give the best advice and even suggest the best form of alternative treatment if Viagra isn’t appropriate. Also of note is the fact that you can order Cialis via a website.

As long as you’ve talked it through with your doctor and there are no issues that would put you at risk, then why not buy online.

Impotence is a difficult subject to talk about, and a challenging reality to stand up against.  Erectile dysfunction can cause a great deal of stress and anxiety. There are experts who believe that key changes to your diet prevent and manage a variety of health concerns.  Proper nutrion may help kick impotence out the door.

The National Institute of Health (NIH) states 15 million to 30 million men suffer with a form of erectile dysfunction. The causes of ED include nerve disorders, psychological elements, chronic illness, and atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis restricts proper blood flow. Another health condition that causes poor circulation is diabetes. Men with unchecked diabetes increase their risk of erectile dysfunction.

Men with diabetic impotence benefit from managing blood glucose levels. Besides watching sugar intake, it’s a good idea to remember simple carbohydrates are notorious for spiking sugar in the bloodstream. By replacing violators such as baked potatoes, french fries and pretzels with healthier fare, you reduce blood sugar impact. Choosing foods low on the Glycemic Index, a chart ranking food and their effect on blood sugar, is a solid way to watch blood levels balance and manage an underlying condition.

Even if diabetes is not the underlying cause, men with impotence can benefit from turning away processed and refined foods that tend to fall on the high-end of the Glycemic Index. Foods that may offer a great benefit include whole grain, fruits and vegetables, and protein sources like turkey or fish. Eating well provides you with a study nutritional base.

In a society where man is defined by his masculine attributes, impotence can be a punishment worse than death. It is a very sensitive issue and men would go to any extreme to avoid acknowledging this problem.

Well, you can have many prejudices related to impotence as long as you are not affected by the same. However, if you are facing this medical problem, it is very important to have a clear head and a logical approach.

The body is a very complex mechanism and is a work of art. We believe in god simply because we have failed to create a machine that is as complex and as beautiful as the human body. In such a scenario, it is natural for flaws and complications to arise. It is just another part of your body and impotence is just another medical problem that can be overcome. This is the right attitude to have.

Many persons decide that their death warrant has been signed even before they understand the reasons behind the problem. Why have you become impotent? Are you permanently impotent? Is there any other alternative? Are there people who have faced this problem and yet continued to remain happy today? Is adoption an option? You cannot even think of arriving at any judgment before you find the answers to all these questions.

Your body may not be working properly but make sure that your mind remains free of guilt or fear. A clear mind is essential to understand the implications of the problem and the various solutions available to overcome the same.

More Medical Tests That Might be Ordered To Help Find the Cause of Impotence

There are so many potential medical tests that the doctor could run that it is hard to contain them all in one place. Here is a look at some of the other medical tests that doctors will run or order in order to find an underlying cause of impotence.

Blood Hormone Studies. This will help the doctor determine if there is enough testosterone being produced. If it is not it could narrow down some of the conditions that might be causing the impotence.

Urinalysis. Urinalysis will give the doctor an overview of a number of things from sugar levels, fats and testosterone levels. If any of these substances are lacking it will be able to help direct the doctor where to look for the potential cause of erectile dysfunction.

Duplex Ultrasound. This is believed to be the best way to help detect and find the cause of erectile dysfunction. It is believed that an ultrasound will show the doctors exactly the type of blood flow that is going on in the body. This can help them see if there is a condition like venous leaks that is causing the impotence.

Penile Biothesiometry. Many people believe that impotence can be caused by nerve damage in the genital area. This test will test for nerve responses and can help pinpoint any nerve damage that might be present.

Vasoactive Injection. This is a test that will inject a special dye into the genital area and cause the body to create an erection. A test can then be run to determine the blood flow and other factors which can help see where there might be a problem.

Medical Tests That are Run to Determine Cause of Impotence Part 1

After your doctor has conducted a complete interview with you regarding your impotence or erectile dysfunction they may or may not schedule you for a number of medical tests. While there is no exact test that can be run to test for impotence there are several tests that can be run to try and rule out any underlying conditions that might be present. Here is a look at some of the tests that might be ordered by your doctor.

Complete Blood Count. A complete blood count is a routine blood test that is run by doctors. The most common thing that doctors are looking for is anemia which is the cause of fatigue and often the cause of impotence.

Liver and Kidney Tests. Impotence can be a result of your kidney or liver not working as it should. These tests will give the doctor an idea if they are working properly and what might be the cause.

Lipid Profile. Lipid tests are run to see how much fat or cholesterol is in the body. If the lipid tests show high levels of fat it could be the cause of your impotence as this will prevent your body from having the proper circulation and that can cause erectile dysfunction.

Thyroid Tests. The thyroid is responsible for creating and secreting sexual hormones. If the thyroid is not properly working it could result in your body not receiving the sexual hormones that it should. When the body does not receive the proper amount of sexual hormones it could cause impotence in many males.

Viagra can give your sex life a lift

An ideal relationship is one that includes a harmony between mind, spirit, and body. Sex and passion are the crucial factors which sustain a relationship between two partners. A certain depth of sexual intimacy is necessary in spicing up your relationship. When this physical component is troubled or missing for some reason, it can obliterate your sex life and can lead to several relationship problems. Erectile dysfunction or impotence is one such condition that is defined as an inability to get and maintain erection during sexual intercourse. Of all the sexual problems, erectile dysfunction is the most common problem faced by men.

Erectile dysfunction – Get acquainted with it

Erectile dysfunction is not an inevitable disorder, but it can impact the quality of life and sexual relationship. Erectile dysfunction can be caused by multiple factors ranging from neurological, endocrinological, vascular, and psychological. Impotence can also be attributed to various reasons like age, side effects of illegal drugs, diabetes, and cardiovascular problems. In order to get to the root of the problem to determine what is causing erectile dysfunction, you should first understand the erection process.

It all starts with sexual stimulation of the penis, which sends signals to the brain. The brain responds to these signals by sending reflexes to a web of nerves and blood vessels to increase the flow of blood to the penis. As blood enters the penis, it gets trapped under pressure and causes erection. Blood is prevented to flow out from the penis by valves present in the penile blood vessels. In this way, erection is maintained till sexual climax is reached during a sexual intercourse. Erection is a complex process, so a disruption in any of these processes can disrupt the chain of processes that lead to a normal erectile function.

Erectile dysfunction vs. sex life

For many men, the fact that they fail to get an erection for a satisfactory sexual intercourse affects their self-esteem and confidence level a great deal. This mental and physical dilemma is reflected in your daily life and in the way you behave with your partner. The guilt of not satisfying your partner, gives you a feeling of imperfection. As a result, you cannot connect with your partner either sexually or emotionally. The recurring instances of failing to overcome erectile dysfunction can make you totally disinterested in sex. To save your sex life from being doomed to failure, it’s better to discuss your condition with a doctor to seek erectile dysfunction treatment.

Viagra – The sex life saver

Male impotence can be treated effectively with the help of impotence pills. In 1998, the FDA approved Viagra (sildenafil) for treatment of erectile dysfunction. Sildenafil works by relaxing blood vessels to improve flow of blood to the penis to get an erection. Now the common questions that arise in the minds of many men is how fast Viagra can work and for how long it works. So the answers to both the questions is that efficacy of Viagra is not same for all individuals. Some men can achieve erection sooner than others, who may have to wait for a little while. Therefore depending on strength of the drug and personal response to the drug, erection can be maintained for a longer period of time.

Viagra should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It is usually taken half an hour before sexual activity. This medication should not be taken more than once per day. For most men, Viagra 50mg dosage is recommended to start with. But based on the effectiveness and tolerance, the dosage can be adjusted to Viagra 25mg or Viagra 100mg.

Study Finds Men Who Take Erectile Dysfunction Medications At Higher Risk for STDs

It might be hard to believe but there could be a correlation between men who are on prescription drugs for erectile dysfunction and men who suffer from a sexually transmitted disease. That is what a recent report by a company that analyzes insurance records suggests.

The analysis involved looking at the insurance records of several insurance companies from the years of 1997 to 2006. All the insurance records were for males that were over the age of 44 and all of these men were prescribed at one point or another some type of prescription drug used to treat erectile dysfunction. The results of the findings were shocking.

The analysis of the records showed that out of the 1.4 million men that had their insurance records looked at there is a huge amount of them who might be at risk for developing sexually transmitted diseases. The records showed that those that had a prescription for erectile dysfunction were twice as likely to also have claims for sexually transmitted diseases, in particular those of HIV or chlamydia.

While there is nothing that suggests that men who are on erectile dysfunction drugs will get sexually transmitted diseases it does suggest another solution. These findings show that men over the age of 44 who are on erectile dysfunction medications would do with a little sexual education. During the course of the education they would be able to be schooled on safe sex practices. This type of education could potentially cut back on the number of men who are suffering from erectile dysfunction and sexually transmitted diseases.

Preparing For Your Interview With Your Doctor Regarding Your Impotence

When your doctor is starting to look into why you may be suffering from impotence or erectile dysfunction one of the first things that you will have to undergo is a complete oral history. Your doctor will sit down and ask you many questions regarding your condition as well as your sexual behaviors. If you are not prepared for the questions that the doctor is about to ask you might be caught off guard and not prepared to answer the questions. Here is a look at what will be asked by the doctor so that you can better prepare for your next doctor’s appointment.

Medications.  Your doctor will ask you about any type of medications that you are on. Sometimes certain medications can cause impotence so it is important to let your doctor know every medication you are on. Do not forget to include natural medications or supplements as these may cause the condition.

Lifestyle. Your doctor will also ask you about your lifestyle and situations. They will ask you if you smoke or drink and how often you do that. They will also ask you if you are suffering from some type of psychological issue such as anxiety or depression as this can often cause impotence.

Sexual Habits. A large portion of the interview will be about your sexual habits. Your doctor will want to know when you notice this happens, how often it happens, how long you keep an erection, does it stay during sexual activity, what sexual positions you have tried, when your erection used to come (morning and evening), and if this has happened with more than one partner. These questions might seem embarrassing but they are a way to help your doctor find a cause for your impotence or erectile dysfunction.

Impotence Treatment: Vacuum Constriction Devices

While there are alternative and conventional medications to treat impotence there is also another alternative way that many men will use to treat this condition. Many men will consider using a device known as the vacuum constriction device to help develop and keep an erection.

Vacuum constriction devices are small external pumps that are used before sexual activity. These pumps usually come with a small band on them that is used to help achieve and keep an erection. The structure of the vacuum construction device is simple. It is a small cylinder pump that is usually placed directly onto the male genitalia. From the pump there is a small band that is placed directly on the body. The cylinder is then pumped to create a vacuum type suction and the band will wrap around the genitalia to create an erection.

There are very little side effects that can happen as a result of using vacuum constriction devices. This is one of the reasons it is so popular. The only reported side effects include potential bruising of the skin from the band and a decreased ejaculation as the erection is not the same as a natural one.

The success rate of those that use a vacuum constriction device is fairly high. Of those that used the device over 50% of the men said that they were extremely happy with the results that they got from the device. However, some of those 50% reported that just like other treatments for erectile dysfunction the thrill and satisfaction eventually started to wear off over time.

The use of vacuum constriction devices is ideal for certain individuals who suffer from erectile dysfunction. This type of treatment is ideal for those with poor circulation, diabetes, recently had some type of surgery and who are suffering from some type of psychological issue.

A Closer Look at the Findings of the Research for Early Warning Signs of Erectile Dysfunction

The study that was conducted by the University of California urology department allowed researchers to look into the correlation between waning sexual desire and erectile dysfunction. While to the outsider it would seem that the two were related the study that was conducted showed a lot more than just lack of desire and erectile dysfunction.

Here is a look at some of the findings of the research.

Those that reported through a poll that they were having trouble getting and/or keeping an erection within the period of six months were more likely to develop erectile dysfunction by the next poll. In fact, in the polls it showed that those that answered with this answer were 2.33 time more likely to develop erectile dysfunction within nine years.

Males that reported that they have had a decrease in sexual desire from when they were teenagers were also affected by erectile dysfunction. Those that answered like this in the poll were more likely to develop erectile dysfunction than those that did not answer like this.

The amount of sexual desires, fantasies or erotic dreams also played a role in erectile dysfunction. Those that answered on the poll that they only experienced these once a week or less were twice as likely to develop erectile dysfunction within the nine year period.

While it might seem that these answers on the poll are common sense. It would make sense if you were suffering early warning signs of erectile dysfunction then you would have less sexual desires but these findings are extremely important because it allows doctors to have a guide to early detection. If doctors can easily detect who might be at risk for developing erectile dysfunction within the next few years they can start early treatment for it.
